Lila Montano

Lila Montano, a longtime resident of Santa Fe, passed away on December 13 at the age of 94. She was a woman of deep faith, unwavering love, and quiet strength. She devoted her life to God and to her family, placing them always at the center of her heart.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Eugene Montano; her parents, Jose and Cora Garcia; sisters Elsie Garcia, Eloisa Berg and brother Leo Garcia; and nieces, Karla Gonzales-Smail and Vanessa Trevino.

She is survived by her loving children and extended family: her son, Frank Montano; daughter, Kathy Montoya, and her husband, Rick; son, Mike Montano, and his wife, Linda; son, Joseph Montano, his wife, Andrie, and their family; daughter, Roberta Flores, and her husband, Bryan; and her special niece, Hedy Trevino.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Richard Montoya; Matthew Montoya and his wife, Beckah; Monica Montano-Brito; Christopher Flores and his partner, Taylor Soveranes; and Patrick Flores and his husband, Stephen.

Her great-grandchildren include Sgt. Devin M.; Loren and Amanda Brito; AraBella and AdaLynd Flores; and Liliana Maestas.

She lived her beliefs through kindness, prayer, and service to those she loved. Her home was a place of warmth, tradition, and steadfast faith.Lila’s legacy lives on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry her love, teachings, and example forward for generations to come.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 9th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., both at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
