Lee Roy Herrera, age 68 resident of Espanola passed away Monday morning. Lee Roy was born in Coyote, NM to Pedro Herrera and Simona Archuleta. On November 29, 1969 Lee Roy Herrera and Lenora Chacon were married in Espanola, NM. For the next 31 years, Lee Roy held a position with the Los Alamos National Laboratories as a Meeting & Planning Coordinator. He served in several community organizations and capacities as President of the Jaycee's Organization, President of the Espanola Little League, Member of the Knights of Columbus, volunteer member of the San Martin Soup Kitchen, member of the Fairview Elementary Close-Up Club and member of the Espanola Valley High School Spanish Club. Lee Roy was preceded in death last year by his son, Delbert Angelo Herrera. His father and mother, Pedro and Simona Herrera of Coyote, NM. Brothers, Levi, Orlando and Marcelino Herrera of Coyote, NM, Sister, Nora Gurule of Espanola, NM, Brother in Law, Delfino Chacon, Jr. of Alcalde, NM and Brother in Law, Peter Chacon of Alcalde, NM. He is survived by his loving wife, Lenora of Espanola, NM. Son, Lee Roy Herrera, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM, Grandchildren, Dyon, Dlyan, Elliot, Ethan and Ava Herrera of Espanola, NM. Brother, Emilio Herrera and wife Amborsia of Coyote, NM. Sisters, Becky Kasel of Las Vegas, NV, Rose Edwards, of Utah and Mary Herrera of Utah. Brother and Sisters in Laws, Leo and Carol Garcia of Ojo Calienta, NM, Gregoria Vigil of Chimayo, NM, Lorraine Maes of Albuquerque NM, Susie Chacon of Alcalde, NM, Eddie Chacon of Alcalde, NM, Tony and MaryLu Chacon of Farmington, NM, Orlando and Tonia Chacon of El Llano, NM, Raymond and Johnny Chacon of Alcalde.
The Herrera Family would like to thank the staff at Presbyterian Hospital in Espanola, NM. Also to friends and family for all their contributions and support. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14th from 5PM - 9PM at the Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola. A Rosary will be recited at 7PM, Thursday, April 14th at Rivera's. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM Friday, April 15th at La Iglesia De Santa Cruz De La Canada Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Darren Herrera, Leroy Chacon, Tony Chacon, Rudy Salazar, Dyan Herrera and Dylan Herrera. Honorary Pallbearers are Orlando Chacon, Joe Chacon, Amy Herrera, Karla Sayler, Elliot Herrera and Ethan Herrera.
