Born on September 30, 1958, he stepped into this world with a heart as expansive as the New Mexico skies.

A talented construction worker, Lawrence crafted his legacy through meticulous devotion to his craft. He expertly stuccoed homes throughout New Mexico, embodying the essence of a true maestro in the world of trades. Known as a master Jack of all trades and a MacGyver in his own right, he possessed an uncanny ability to fix anything. His skills were a testament to both his industrious spirit and his deep-rooted passion for creation—whether it was constructing a stunning home or whipping up his beloved red chili sauce.

Lawrence's life was a vibrant tapestry of adventures and experiences, lovingly stitched together with memories shared with family and friends. How he cherished those mountain escapades, jamming out to the exhilarating sounds of the Rolling Stones, the rhythm of friendship palpable in the air. Among his travels, he journeyed to the picturesque landscapes of Arizona, South Dakota, California, Montana, Wyoming, and Mexico, always eager to explore and soak in the beauty that life had to offer.

Throughout his life, Lawrence remained devoted in his faith, firmly grounded in his strong beliefs. These principles not only shaped his character but also bridged deep connections with those around him. A true life of the party, he surrounded himself with his children—Janelle, Christopher, Leon, and granddaughter Caylee, grandson Joshua and great-granddaughter Mia—who were undoubtedly his proudest accomplishments. They were the crown jewels of his existence, the very essence of his joyous heart.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his mother, Angelina Martinez, who was not just a parent but also a source of unwavering pride for him. Lawrence cherished his siblings—sisters Christine and Valerie, brother Michael Sr., brother Richard, brother David, and brother Steve—all were companions and confidantes in his journey. Surrounded by cousins, nephews, nieces, and the close embrace of  brother-in-laws, Frank, Andy Sr., and Robert Engstrom and sister-in-laws Maryann, Ruth Ann, and Lenise, he fostered connections that transcended mere family ties, crafting a tapestry full of love and support.

As we reflect upon the life of Lawrence Phillip Martinez, we remember the warmth he brought to our lives. Even as he faced a long illness, he remained surrounded by the legacy he built—his children—passionately enduring until his peaceful departure on September 7, 2025. He joins his father, Valentin, and many cherished family members who have gone before him, including his grandparents and siblings Andrew, Cathy and Mike Jr. "Tank", whose memories linger like whispers on the wind.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at Rivera Family Funeral & Cremations of Santa Fe on September 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM until noon. As we gather to celebrate his magnificent spirit, let us carry forth his legacy—a legacy marked by love, laughter, and an unyielding connection to those we hold dear. Lawrence Phillip Martinez will forever remain a shining beacon in our hearts, reminding us of the gift of life lived fully, joyously, and generously.
