In Loving Memory of Lawrence Lujan

Lawrence Lujan, age 101, passed away at home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on July 5, 2025. He was born on March 6, 1924, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Candelario and Estefanita Lujan.

Lawrence resided with his family in Colorado for about a year before they returned to New Mexico to homestead in the Sabinoso area of San Miguel County. He graduated from high school and proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater from 1944 to 1946. After his service, he pursued higher education at Highlands University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business.

In 1953, he married Alice Sandoval, beginning a devoted union that lasted 71 years. Together they raised a loving family. Lawrence was a lifelong rancher, nature enthusiast, and dedicated public servant, working for both the State of New Mexico and the Federal Government.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Candelario and Estefanita Lujan; his siblings, Lucy Gallegos, Patricio Lujan, Grace Renton, Guillermo Lujan; nephew Billy Gonzales; and his beloved daughter, Louisa Lujan-Pacheco.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Lujan; children: Carlos Lujan, Anita Gavin (Jim), Christina Lujan, and Eddie Lujan (Barbara); son-in-law, Martin Pacheco; grandchildren: Donna Marlow, Ashlee VanBuskirk, Nicolas Pacheco, James Gavin, Daniel Gavin, Alicia Pacheco, and Sofia Gavin; great-grandchild, Frankie Contreras; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation and Services:

Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary followed by a Prayer Service at Rivera Family Funerals, 417 E. Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM, followed by a Prayer Service at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Lawrence Lujan.

Lawrence lived a long and meaningful life, rooted in faith, family, and service. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
