Larry Cisneros Jr.

CW4 Larry Cisneros, Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, August 22, 2026 after a long, happy, fulfilled life. He was born in Ranchos de Taos, NM on June 15, 1929 and raised and schooled in Questa, New Mexico, son of Laureano (JL) and Sovieda (Sobie) Cisneros.

After school Larry enlisted in the New Mexico National Guard out of Taos. He met and married Victoriana Santistevan and built a life in Taos and Santa Fe.

Larry retired from the Department of Defense after 38 years in active duty stateside during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He served as his association’s president, attending and organizing numerous conferences in almost every state in the union. He was also a member of the Elk’s Lodge #460.

Larry was also a long standing and respected member of the New Mexico Activities Officials’ Association as a high school basketball and football referee and was inducted into the Official’s Association Hall of Fame.

Larry was greeting in heaven by his parents JL and Sobie, siblings Ruben, Irma Robinson and husband Robbie, Viola Spalding, Aurora Gonzales and husband Arsenio, his grandson Michael Cisneros, and his wife and mother of his children Victoriana Cisneros. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Isabel, his children and their spouses Clifford and Anita, Jack and Tomasita, Sam and Charlene, and Patricia and Chris Warren. His grandchildren Jack, Anthony, Jeffrey, Daniel, and Melissa Cisneros, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, his bother Lester and his sister Concha, sister-in-law Crucita Cisneros, brother-in-law Bob Spalding, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Isabel’s children, Roberta and Harry, Dale, Ray, Rosalie and Eliseo.

We are grateful for the loving care and support from his care team at the Veteran’s Administration and Hospice, Dr. Tina Bui-Burgos, Leigh Raymond, Elsa Gonzales, and especially Travis Sloane who provided the day-to-day care and became part of our family.
