It is with heavy hearts that we announce Kathryn’s peaceful departure into the loving arms of our dear Lord. We thank God for the gift of Faith and the Holy Spirit that He filled her with.

A resident of Alcalde, from San Ildefonso Pueblo, Kathy was a woman of many talents, her final and most cherished being that of a master seamstress. She found endless joy in her sewing room, creating Native American attire and always envisioning the next beautiful embroidery design. Kathy lived a full and wonderful life alongside her beloved husband, Marvin. Together, they shared a love for dancing to good old country and western music. She was an excellent cook and had a love for gardening. She had an infectious smile, an unforgettable laugh, and a heart generous beyond measure. There is not enough space to name all the lives Kathy touched during her wonderful 72 years on earth, but her memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who loved her.

Kathryn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Brandstetter; children, Matthew and Melissa Atencio; stepson, Rick Brandstetter; parents, William Frank Brewer and Tonita Averitt; stepfather, Wilburn Averitt; sisters, Susie Gilbert and Sherri Renee Sanchez; brother, Harley Frank Brewer; brother-in-law, David Roybal; granddaughter, Kimberly Atencio; and the father of her children, Richard Atencio.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Channelle Brandstetter, and companion, Arturo Torres, who both helped provide loving care in her later years, granddaughter, Dallas Torres; daughter, Angel Brandstetter; stepchildren, Pamela Jeffries and husband Steve of Las Cruces, and Scott Brandstetter of Durango, CO; step-grandchildren, Nicole Walsh and husband Benjamin of Washington, and Stephen Jeffries of Las Cruces; grandson, Frank P. Brewer; great-grandchildren, Kairi Brewer, Lily, Abigail, and Bethany Miller; sisters, Dorothy Roybal of San Ildefonso Pueblo, and Patty Romero and husband Wilfred of Nambe; sister-in-law, Carol Brewer of Santa Clara Pueblo; brothers-in-law, Greg Gilbert and Rex Sanchez; uncle, Rodger Weahkee of San Ildefonso Pueblo; aunt, Bebe Avila of Kingsland, GA; special nephew, Moroni Herrera; special sister-in-law who also provided loving care in her later years, Elaine Naranjo; and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In honor of Kathryn, A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 28, 2026, beginning at 10:00am at Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola.
