Kathleen "Kathy"
Dillon
1938 – May 20, 2026
Kathleen “Kathy” Dillon, born Kathleen Henderson, passed away on May 20, 2026. She was born on October 30, 1938, in San Angelo, Texas, to Thelma Lee Grubbs and Travis Henderson.
Kathy lived a rich and creative life, shaped by art, independence, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the Southwest. A gifted painter, she found joy and meaning in expressing the world through color, texture, and imagination. In the 1980s, she attended art school in Taos, New Mexico, where she continued to grow as an artist and became connected to the artistic spirit and cultural beauty of the region.
When she was younger, Kathy was a barrel racer, carrying with her a love of horses, courage, and the strength of the Western way of life. She had a lifelong appreciation for Native American and Southwestern culture, both of which inspired her creativity, her home, and the way she saw the world.
Kathy was loved and cared for by her two adult children, Jaime Powers and Cheyenne Powers, who lived with her and helped care for her. Their devotion reflected the deep bond they shared and the love that surrounded her in her later years.
Those who knew Kathy will remember her creative soul, her strong spirit, and the beauty she brought into the world through her artwork, her stories, and her presence. Her paintings reflected not only her talent, but also the way she saw life — with depth, feeling, and a unique sense of wonder.
Kathy’s memory will live on through Jaime, Cheyenne, her family, her friends, and the art she created. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, strength, love, and Southwestern spirit.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
The family of Kathleen “Kathy” Dillon has granted Rivera Funeral home the honor of serving them.
