With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Juanita (Jane) Lopez. Her Heavenly Father, lead one of his angels back home. Juanita was ready to meet her creator. Juanita would remind anyone that was around her that it was always God’s will about what happens in life. Juanita never wavered from her faith that God was and is always in control. On Wednesday afternoon, June 18th she was enjoying her 100th birthday with loved ones that Juanita was able to enjoy her 100th birthday with loved ones, while she sang happy birthday to herself with all her loved ones.
Juanita’s journey on this earth was a beautiful testament of faith, devotion and service. Those whose life’s she touched will be remembered by many as “mom”.
She was born in Dixon, NM to Antonio G. and Alcarita Archuleta. Upon her graduation from St Joseph High School in Dixon, NM she left to attend nursing school. The first sight of a real bloody accident she realized that was not her true calling. Juanita found other ways in life to help and serve all those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Max Lopez), and son (Lee) from Los Alamos, NM. She was preceded by her siblings: Orlando (Ruth), Johnny, Theresa Dora Martinez (Joe), her in-laws, Teofilo, Rosana Q Lopez from Espanola, and the rest of her in-laws, along with her grandparents, uncles and aunts.
She is survived by a sister Barbara (Aaron Martinez) Los Alamos, and sister-in law Bennie (Eric Schachter) Rio Rancho, Nephew Jerry Archuleta (Tara) family: Zealous, Elizabethanne, Xavier, Tymia and Kailei from Santa Fe; Nieces RoseEllen Visarraga (Joseph deceased) Jennifer and Lauren Visarraga, and Jodi Visarrarga-Florreich, (Pete) from Salt Lake City, Utah. Shirley Clifford (Harry) from Bernallio, NM, family Don Lujan (Jeanne) Peñasco, NM, Destinee Rodriguez Miera, Sky Rodriguez, Zennon Lujan, Gabriel Lujan, Judy Clifford, Harry Clifford III. Carrie Phillips (Randy) deceased) from Mexico; and Wade Phillips from Spokane, WA, Other family members: Julian (Francis) Romero and family from Cuyamungue, NM, Fidel Salazar (Kathy) from Bernalillo, NM, Grace and Lebeo Martinez from Dixon, NM, Marcie and Jim Hutton from Los Alamos, NM.
After their marriage Jane and Max moved to Los Alamos. At this time, she went to work at the Carriage Inn. She loved the camaraderie of serving people. The rest of her life she worked at restaurants: Casa Luna and finally retiring from The Los Alamos Inn.
She later went to help at Casa Mesita Thrift Shop. She loved meeting all the cliental that stopped by. Every day she would get up at 6:00 am. On her way to work she stopped at the Church Chapel to thank the Lord for another day and to ask the Lord to be with her at work. On her way home from Casa Mesita, she would stop at the Church Chapel once again to thank the Lord for helping her accomplish her daily task at work.
She loved to travel all over the different states and different countries in Europe. Regardless of where she was, she always made it a point to attend mass every week.
