Jose was born in Talpa, New Mexico. In early days, Jose went with his father as a sheep herder in Hartsel, Col. Jose was married to Antonia S.Tafoya. He was employed by State Highway Department District 5 and retired from there here in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Antonia S. Tafoya, parents; Francisco Tafoya and Maria Juanita (Valerio) Tafoya, and sister; Tony T. Jacobs.
He is survived by his brother; Gilbert Tafoya and wife, sisters; Loren T. Sanchez, and Maria C. (Sally) Romero, step sons; Thomas W. Baker and Rick Baker, step daughters; Sandy B. Carrillo and Martha B. Garcia, Jose had step great grandkids and grand kids.
