Josephine Mary Riedel, a beloved sister and a cherished friend, passed away on November 2, 2025, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Born in late fall, Josephine's journey through life was characterized by her kindness, joyous spirit, and her ability to uplift those around her.
Josephine began her professional career as a Medical Administrator in the psychology field, where she made significant contributions to the well-being of others. Later in life she became a bookkeeper at the Quality Inn hotel in Taos, where her bright personality and exceptional organizational skills led her to become the manager in 2012. Her dedication to her work was paralleled by her compassionate nature.
A resident of Kansas, Texas, and New Mexico, Josephine's vivacious spirit shone through in her hobbies and interests. She had an unwavering love for animals, always rescuing and caring for those in need. A true horse lover at heart, she spent many joyful moments raising and riding horses, and her home was never without the companionship of a cat or two and the playful affection of dogs.
Josephine’s fun-loving personality made her a great sister and an enjoyable presence in the lives of her family. Her siblings, Albert Andrew Riedel Jr., Andrew Albert Riedel, and Mary Josephine, recount countless memories of laughter and joy shared with her. Known for her keen eye for sales, she had a remarkable talent for yard sales, turning the simplest items into treasures for others.
Among her proudest accomplishments was the heartfelt care she provided to her parents in Hays, Kansas, in 2007. Josephine’s dedication and love for her family were evident throughout her life, and she will be dearly missed.
Josephine was also a loving and devoted mother to her adopted son, Steven. Her legacy of kindness and laughter will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service to celebrate Josephine's life will be held on November 15, 2025, at Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations of Taos in Taos, New Mexico at 6PM, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather, share memories, and honor her beautiful spirit.
