JOSEPH HAROLD ROMERO, most people know him as Harold from Johnny’s Market, passed away on November 24, 2025, at home with his family by his side after a lengthy illness.
He was born January 26, 1949, to Jose E Romero and Frances M. Romero. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Patricia A. Romero, brother Leonard Romero, in-laws John P. Lujan and Stella M. Lujan.
He is survived by his children, Joseph (Alicia), Dina (Rolando), Daniel (Alicia), his grandchildren Lorenzo (Chelsey), Jose (Monica), Kennis, Kaiden, Brandon, great-granddaughter Layla and his siblings and many nieces and nephews.
He bought Johnny’s Market from his father-in-law soon after he got married. He, his wife and children ran the business until it closed in 1992. Harold learned how to be a butcher from his wife’s uncle and father-in-law. People from near and far brought their meat to him to be butchered because he was considered the best. He was also known for generosity and kindness to his customers and friend and his witty sense of humor.
Services will be Tuesday, December 23, 2025 a rosary will be held at 10:30 followed by mass at 11:00 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 100 S. Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM. Followed by internment at Rosario Cemetery, Santa Fe NM.
