In Loving Memory of Jose Jesus Nevarez (JJ, “J Dubb”)

January 4, 1977 – April 16, 2026

Jose Jesus Nevarez, better known as JJ or “J Dubb,” was called home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2026, at the young age of 49. He passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his son and mother.

A lifelong resident of the Española Valley, JJ was a true "Valley Boy" through and through. He was a gifted musician who viewed his craft as a divine calling. Through his music, he became a voice of hope in the Valley, ministering to the broken and uplifting the weary. His songs were more than melodies; they are a lasting testimony of God’s grace.

J Dubb had a generous spirit and a sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to those around him. Even through the struggles he faced later in life, JJ returned to the Lord, the One whom he loved most. His life stands as a powerful testimony of God’s love, mercy, and redemption.

When he wasn't making music, JJ found peace on the water with a fishing pole in hand, or you could often find him cheering on his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers. However, his greatest joy was always his family. He was a proud father and a loyal son who carried his loved ones in his heart through every season of life.

JJ is survived by his mother, Trina; his children, Deaundre, Jaylen, Teresa, Zavory, Maleni, Brooklyn, and Zion; his sisters, Trish and Veronica; his brother, Shawn; and numerous aunts, cousins, and a community of friends who were like family. He now joins his brother, Leo Nevarez, in eternal rest.

Though the music has paused here on earth, JJ’s testimony continues to resonate in the hearts of those he touched. We find comfort in the promise of the scripture:

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever." - Revelation 21:4

JJ is finally at peace in the presence of the Lord, likely fishing the heavenly waters and singing a new song to the Lord. He will be deeply missed, but his light will never be extinguished from our hearts or the Valley he loved so much.

Service Information: A celebration of JJ's life will be held on May 16th, 2026, at Truth Ministries-Calvary Chapel in Arroyo Seco at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor his memory and the impact he made on the Valley.
