Johnnie Reuben Salazar – Age 85 a resident of Sombrillo passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2007. Johnnie was born on November 1st, 1921 to Jose Bernardo and Asenaida Salazar. He was a Veteran of World War II and then had a successful career as an electronic tech for LASL. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus being a 4th Degree Knight. He was also a member of the Holy Family. Ruben is survived by his wife, Flora Q. Salazar; son, John M. Salazar and wife Lynn of Austin, Texas; daughters: Diane Santillanes and husband John of Española, Yolanda Salazar of Santa Fe, and Judy Bulnes and husband Jose C. of Fairview; sister, Alexina Serna of El Guache; sisters-in-law, Mannie Salazar of Silverton, Colorado, Mary Haygood of Rio Rancho, Minnie Quintana of Sombrillo, Matilda Quintana of Sombrillo, Celine Luper of Inglewood, CA, and Celida Quintana of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Ross Trujillo of Cuarteles; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial will follow at 1:30 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
