John Brice Penner Jr.

John Brice Penner Jr., of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on October 4, 1933, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Manuela Rivera Penner and John Brice Penner Sr. John dedicated 30 years of service as a police officer with the City of Santa Fe Police Department. He honorably served his country in the Korean War.

John’s life centered around his family. He had a deep love for music – listening, singing and playing his guitar brought him great joy, whether for his own enjoyment or for those around him. He cherished spending time outdoors, especially camping and vacationing with family, creating countless memories along the way.

Following retirement, he and his wife spent over 30 years traveling together, embracing new adventures. One of John’s greatest pleasures was working in his backyard shed, crafting one-of-a-kind woodworks and creating special keepsakes for his family.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Luisa (known as Aunt Louie), and their children: Adriane Lynn (Frank) Martinez and John Daniel (Carrie) Penner. He is also lovingly remembered by seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, his sister Nellie Yardman, his brother Billy (Ramona) Penner, and many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuela and John Brice Penner Sr., his son David Christopher Penner and his siblings: Dolores Baca, Frances Baca, Tessie Padilla, Rosina Apodaca and Fay Montoya.

A rosary will be recited on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 10 AM at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 AM. Interment of ashes will take place at 12:30 PM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
