Joe Eufracio Thomas

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joe Eufracio Thomas on June 30, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving children as he journeyed peacefully into the embrace of our Lord. Joe’s life began in Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he was born on March 12, 1944.

Joe’s story is rooted in the strong, caring foundation provided by his beloved parents, Eufracio Thomas and Piedad Rivera-Thomas who preceded his death. He is also preceded by his brother Fred Thomas and sisters Alice Vialpando and Pita Khefus.

Joe’s presence will be sorely missed. We will all remember his proud service in the U.S Army and a Vietnam Veteran, his career as a Santa Fe Police Officer and his time with the Santa Fe Public Schools in his retirement.

Through all of life’s seasons, Joe’s greatest joy was his family. He is dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his children: Erika, Janell, Aaron and Dawnielle. He is also missed by all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews and lovingly known as Uncle Joe. He spent time with many of them teaching them things such as multiplications, telling time and even tying their shoes.

Joe had a very special relationship with his brothers and sisters and often celebrated birthdays and holidays with them. He was an avid Bronco Fan and loved spending time at the casinos. He loved fishing and spending time with his friends.

We would also like to share our great appreciation for the caregiving received from Kayla, Lorena and LaShonda during this last journey of life. We also appreciate the Hospice Care he received from Envoy Hospice especially his nurse Fabiola and Caregiver Elizabeth. Thank you so much for treating our dad with such great care and dignity.
