Listen to Obituary

Joe L. Myers, born on December 4, 1951, in Levelland, Texas, passed away in Arizona on June 21, 2026, following a hard-fought battle through a lengthy illness.

Joe found deep-rooted values in family and faith. He worked alongside his father in painting, drywall and construction, traveling together throughout the stretches of Northern New Mexico.

As a devout Christian, he was deeply committed to church and learning about the Bible, commonly watching services on television and studying scripture. His spiritual grounding shaped his character: straightforward and reserved, living by honesty and with integrity. Even during his final days, the hospital staff described him as one of the nicest patients they had ever cared for.

Joe’s love for nature drew him outdoors, and he treasured opportunities to camp, fish, and hunt. He also found comfort in watching old western movies, delighting in their timeless stories and rugged landscapes.

Joe is lovingly remembered by his surviving sister, Pam Bell, with whom he shared a profound sibling connection; nephews, Rick Trotter and Brian Bell; cousins, Brett Rhodes, Stacy Rhodes, and Kim Mills-Jones and many other beloved relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Wanda Myers.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday July 23, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Rivera Family Funerals of Espanola at 305 Calle Salazar, Espanola, NM 87532. Immediately following, Joe will be laid to rest at Guaje Pines Cemetery of Los Alamos, 901 Range Road, Los Alamos, NM 87544 at 2:00 PM.
