Joe Chavez

Joe Chavez, a proud Santa Fe native, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at Casita Assisted Living. He was born on April 7, 1950. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his entire family.

Joe found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, chopping wood, attending classic car shows, picking pinon, and absolutly loved his wife's cooking. These interests were part of the life he built and the memories he shared with those around him. He will be remembered for the love he gave his family and for the steady presence he was in their lives.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Laura Chavez. He is also survived by his daughters, Pamela Padilla and Tracy Ramirez; his sons-in-law, Eddie Padilla and Ryan Ramirez; and his grandchildren, Kianah Shafer, Zoe Padilla, and Zaiden Padilla, and his many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. Joe’s family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in his role as husband, father, grandfather. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose B Chavez; his mother, Dominguita Chavez; his brother, Raymond Chavez; and his sisters, Ramona Arballo and Rita Baca.

Joe Chavez will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A Viewing will be at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Rosary on October 6, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. Followed with Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. located at Rivera Kiva Chapel of Light, 417 Rodeo Road Santa Fe, NM 87505. Interment will be at 1:00 P.M. at Rosario Cemetery located at 499 N. Guadalupe St. Santa Fe, NM 87501.
