Jodi Angeline Yaccino, age 65, of Albuquerque, passed away after a sudden illness on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
Jodi was born on June 8, 1960, in Oak Park, Illinois to John and Rhoda (Kelley) Yaccino and spent her early years in Chicago's Austin neighborhood. Her family moved to Grayslake, Il in 1964 where she attended primary and high school and the College of Lake County. Jodi received her Associate of Science degree in Health Information Technology from DeVry University in 2013.
Jodi Worked and lived all over the US as a member of the advance ticketing team for the Shrine Circus but lived for long periods of time in Chicago, Minneapolis-St Paul, Tulsa and Eu Claire, WI. Throughout her life and upon returning to the Chicagoland area in 2001 she worked as a much-loved nanny and an indispensable caretaker of the elderly before embarking on a career in health information technology.
She retired in Albuquerque in 2020 and became a fierce advocate for animals, the working poor, and the people of Palestine. She also adopted a cherished kitten, Ruby, in 2021 with whom she spent the happiest days of her life.
Jodi loved listening to music and was a gifted singer and excelled at French horn in her younger days. She was an avid reader and left behind a long list of books yet unread. She enjoyed the company of her friends, siblings and nieces and nephews with whom she spent many happy hours playing cards and games, dancing, singing karaoke, watching sports, movies and game shows and entertaining all with her quick wit and unparalleled sense of humor. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Jodi was preceded in death by her beloved parents in 1977 and 1978, her elder sister Shannon in 2022, treasured grandparents, and a niece, Jamie Kathleen. She is survived by one brother, Jason Lacroix (Amber) and four sisters, Kathleen Hovorka (Paul), Kerry McDonald (Kevin), Kelley Yaccino (Randall McCoach) and Nicole Whittemore (Christopher); five nephews, Ryan Hovorka (Rayna), Alexander Hovorka (Victoria), Joshua Whittemore, Owen Lacroix, and Henry Lacroix; five nieces, Samantha Hovorka, Abigail Whittemore, Rachel Whittemore, Amelia Lacroix and Katelyn Whittemore; as well as many friends, especially her dear friend, Laurel Quist (Saxton) who has been her best friend since kindergarten.
In accordance with Jodi's wishes, there will be no funeral services.
