Jean G. Gonzales

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, cherished grandmother, devoted sister, caring aunt, and loyal friend, Jean Gonzales. Jean was born on April 9, 1949, and peacefully left this world surrounded by her loving family on March 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at the age of 76. She was born in Pojoaque, New Mexico and resided in Glorieta, New Mexico where she married Sam Gonzales and enjoyed a loving marriage for 17 years before his passing in 1989. Jean was a devoted Catholic woman with a heart full of love for God, her family, and friends. She volunteered as a mayordomo at Nuestra Señora de la Luz in Cañoncito and Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Glorieta and a money counter at St. Anthony’s Parish. She enjoyed reading her daily devotionals and listening to the rosary on the radio. Family gatherings were especially dear to her, and she cherished the moments when everyone would come together. Her bond with her children, grandchildren, siblings, daughters-in-law, and countless friends, was one of great love and understanding. Jean was a woman whose heart was as big as her generosity, and her legacy will forever live on in the fond memories shared by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Gonzales; Parents, Reynaldo and Leonardita Roybal; In-Laws, Sabino and Maria Gonzales; Brothers, Horacio, Eddie, Dan, David, Phil, Peter, Gerard and Michael Roybal; Sisters, Diane Ortiz, Mary Lou Lujan, Norma Vigil; Sisters-in-law, Sister Angelina, Carmen, Cora, and Enriqueta Gonzales; Brothers-in-law, Martin Trujillo, Ruben Manzanares, Ernest, Cirilo, and Elfego Gonzales, and Jake Fresques.

Jean is survived by her children, Nadine Roybal (Angela), Sam Gonzales (Lynette), Arthur Gonzales (Andrea), and Janelle Gonzales; Grandchildren, Issac, Devin, Alexis, Joshua, Sami, and Leah Gonzales; Sisters, Loyola Trujillo, Melva Manzanares (Del), Sandra Roybal; Brother, Lionel “Leo” Roybal (Monica); Sisters-in-law, Cecilia and Jean Roybal, Stella Gonzales, Jessie Kowalski (Jim), and Gloria Fresques; Brothers-in-law, Ernie Vigil, Rosendo Lujan, Edwin Ortiz, Alfonso (Rosemarie) and Gilbert Gonzales (Lucille).

She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Services will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pecos, NM on Monday, March 16, 2026. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am followed by a Mass at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Nuestra Señora de la Luz Cemetery in Cañoncito, NM.

Serving as Pallbearers are her beloved grandchildren, Issac, Devin, Alexis, Joshua, Sami, and Leah Gonzales.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her Godchildren, Debbie Pietrzak, Jacob Fresques, Mia Valencia, and Jessey Zerr.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her home caregiver, Elizabeth Hernandez, the staff at Sierra Vista for their early care and support, and especially to the compassionate caregivers and family at Vista Hermosa, who cared for her so lovingly during her final years. Special thanks to Brenda, Carol, Dolores, Stephanie, Remedios, Maritza, Leticia, Catalina, Dandy, Irene, Guadalupe, Gladys, Laura, Janeth, Fabiola, Adrian, and Rasean.

Her love, strength and spirit will live on in the hearts of her family forever.
