Our January, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, made her way into God’s hands on July 8, 2026. The chains that bound her to the struggles of this world were finally broken, and she is now soaring on eagle’s wings over us all. Although our hearts are heavy with sadness, we find comfort in knowing she is finally at peace. God gave His Son for us and knew the pain we would one day endure, and we believe He called January home to free her from the pain she carried here on earth. While we will miss her every day, we know she is watching over each of us with the same love she gave so freely throughout her life.

January was born on January 23, 1980, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She loved spending time with her boys, who were the greatest joy of her life. Whether it was sharing a laugh, making memories together, or simply being by their side, nothing meant more to her than being their mom. She had a gracious heart and had a special gift for making friends wherever she went. She never met a stranger for long, and her kindness had a way of making people feel welcome from the very first conversation.

She could often be found sitting by the river with a sunburn on her face, hoping to catch just one more fish long after the sun had gone down. She loved driving through the mountains looking for deer and elk, finding peace in the beauty of nature and the quiet moments that so many people overlook. She appreciated the simple things in life, and somehow she reminded those around her that those simple moments were often the most meaningful.

January was caring, loving, and selfless. She had the biggest heart and always put everyone else’s needs before her own. She loved deeply, forgave easily, and gave without ever expecting anything in return. She had a way of making people feel seen, loved, and accepted just as they were. Her smile, her laugh, and the warmth she carried with her will never be forgotten. She touched more lives than she probably ever realized, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her was better because of it.

The love she gave so freely will continue to live on through her family, her friends, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we are forever grateful for the time God blessed us with her. We will carry her love, her strength, and her memory with us every day until we meet again.

January is preceded in death by her grandparents, Alberto Maes and Sophia Maes; Miguel Rael; and Rose and Ernest Sena.

January is survived by her father, Albert Maes; her mother, Cynthia Rael Maes; her brothers, Miguel (Joselle) Maes and Gabriel Maes; her sons, Michael Anaya, Jacob Anaya, and Noah Maes; along with her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many dear friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and love.
