James Earl Calvert, whose laughter and love filled the lives of all who knew him, departed this world on December 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as rich and vibrant as the music he cherished. Born in 1968, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, James radiated kindness and compassion throughout his life, touching the hearts of many.

Preceded in death by his father, Frank E. Calvert; mother, Edith R. Calvert; and sister, Marieta Brown, James was enveloped by a family that shaped his gentle spirit and profound generosity. He expressed his love in simple yet impactful ways, whether through thoughtful gifts that spoke to his loved ones’ hearts or by giving endlessly of his time and affection. Known for his effervescent smile and infectious laugh, he had the rare talent to create joy wherever he wandered, drawing people into his warmth and inviting them to share in his adventures.

His love for his husband, Jerry, was immeasurable, a bond that transcended distance and adversity. Together, they danced through life, lifting each other's spirits in euphoric celebration of joy and resilience. James taught those around him the importance of self-care, a good nap, forgiveness, and the simple act of being present for one another. He excelled not only as a best friend but as a protector and provider, embodying the very essence of loyalty. Many will remember him as the little brother full of life, who always made time for family, no matter how busy he became.

Throughout his life, James was defined by his remarkable ability to see the best in everyone. He had a unique bond with each of his siblings, always making it a priority to show up for them, especially his sister Rose, who considered him her "baby." His generous nature extended not only to his family but to friends as well, as he took a vested interest in their well-being, offering a listening ear and heartwarming support whenever it was needed. James' vibrant spirit was infectious—his smile and laughter could illuminate even the darkest of rooms.

James's love for animals was profound, nurturing five beloved dogs—Dee Dee, Kolton, Nigel, Sage, and Basil—who shared countless moments with him. His adventurous spirit led him to travel in search of new experiences, ever curious about the world and those in it. With an intuition that could sense when friends or family were in need, James was quick to check in, extending a hand of compassion even in challenging times. He reminded everyone that healing comes from kindness and understanding.

An earnest Marine veteran, James carried the values of strength, moral integrity, and dedication throughout his life. He respected his parents deeply, drawing inspiration from their lives as he navigated his own. He helped raise his nephew Robert and opened his heart and home to his nieces Melisha and Brishaun, pouring his love into their lives while ensuring they felt cherished and supported.

James’s spirit was unyielding; he was stubborn yet independent, a delightful concoction that made him irresistibly unique. He inspired those around him to push their boundaries and strive for more, transforming gatherings into joyous celebrations filled with love, music, and dance. His belief in the human spirit was unwavering, forever choosing to see the best in others, and reminding us that true strength lies in our capacity to love.

James is survived by his beloved husband, Jerry; brother, Frank; sister-in-law, Zeta; and sisters, Jackie and Rose. Each of them carries the fragments of his beautiful spirit, but the tapestry of love he wove into their lives will forever remain unbroken.

As we say goodbye to James Earl Calvert, we remember a life fiercely lived—a life that dared to love fully and embrace the adventures of each day. His legacy is one of compassion, laughter, and unwavering support, and though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will persist in the many lives he touched and the love he generously shared. May we all strive to embody the generous spirit and unwavering loyalty of James Earl Calvert, who taught us all to love life and those around us to the fullest.
