Honorio Rael Jr., a cherished soul, gracefully departed this earthly realm on August 11, 2025, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Born on May 4, 1955, in the tranquil town of Jaroso, Colorado, Honorio led a life marked by purpose, integrity, and profound love.
A dedicated Senior Accountant at Kit Carson Electric, Honorio exemplified professionalism and diligence in his career while balancing it with the joys of family life. His education at Highlands University, where he pursued studies in education, forestry, and business, ultimately led him to earn a bachelor's degree in business, all the while diligently working towards a master’s degree. His dedication to education reflected not only in his professional achievements but also in the values he instilled in his family.
The quiet strength and compassion Honorio possessed were mirrored in the athleticism he shared with his loved ones. He was a natural mentor, imparting the joys of sports to his children and grandchildren, fostering their understanding of teamwork and perseverance. His loyalty to the Washington Commanders underscored his enthusiasm for sports, as he found comfort and joy in watching football and basketball. With a heart that wore its compassion openly, Honorio bonded with close friends, creating amazing friendships throughout his life. His humble nature and kind demeanor made him a beloved fixture within his community, lovingly organizing a 50-year class reunion, which spoke volumes of his commitment to staying connected with those he cherished.
In the bright tapestry of his life, family was always paramount; he treated his wife, Maxine, with an unwavering devotion that spanned 55 years. Their bond was an inspiring testament to love and partnership, with Maxine being the light of his life. Honorio’s spirit lives on through his children: Amanda, Honorio Justin IV, and Nathaniel, as well as his siblings, Clarence (Irene), Joseph (Brandy), Don (Valerie), Jimmy, and the loving embrace of sisters Berna, Marlaine (Manny), and Fran. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, humility, and compassion.
Honorio’s unwavering faith formed the foundation of his life, with his loyalty to the San Antonio de Padua Church reflecting a spiritual commitment that enriched both his existence and the lives of those around him. His unexpected passing has left a palpable void, as he joins his beloved son, Dennis Rael; daughter, Jennifer; parents, Honorio and Jaunita Rael; mother-in-law, Lucy Gomez Archuleta; nephew, Neil De Herrera; and numerous friends and family who have gone before him.
