Henry Joseph Guillen, known affectionately to family and friends as "Wrinkles," passed away peacefully at his home in Ilfeld, New Mexico, on September 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 14, 1948, in Alcalde, New Mexico, Henry lived a fulfilling life characterized by joy, laughter, and cherished moments.
Henry dedicated many years to his career as a Cattle Inspector before transitioning into a Handyman role, humorously regarded by his family as a "Jack of all trades, and a master of none." His adventurous spirit and passion for the outdoors were pivotal to his identity, as he enjoyed hunting and fishing, activities he enthusiastically shared with his children.
His family fondly recalls the special times spent with him, from scenic drives and cozy hot cocoa while watching horse races with his daughter to engaging in hunting and fishing trips with his son. As a proud father, Henry created lasting memories with his daughters, Lynette and Anita, and raised his granddaughter Joleese as if she were his own daughter.
Henry’s vibrant personality and sense of humor made him the life of any gathering. He had a remarkable gift for bringing joy to those around him and cherished dancing, often encouraging others to join him on the dance floor. His love for Spanish music, particularly Cuarenta y Cinco, enriched his life significantly.
Henry is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Roberta Guillen; daughters, Lynette Guillen-Martinez and Anita Guillen (Shannon); son, Enrique Guillen; his beloved granddaughter, Joleese, stepdaughter, Maria Molina and husband Nick, stepsons, John and Gary Daley, brother, Frank Guillen and wife Nancy, and sister, Patricia Martinez. Henry is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many cousins, family members and cherished friends. His kindness and humor will be deeply missed, yet his legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tranquilino Guillen and Frances Aranda; his stepfather of 40+ years, Victor Aranda; his cherished grandparents, Perfecto and Maria Frutosa-Maes; and his brothers, David, Carl, and Mike Guillen.
Family and friends are invited to honor Henry's life on September 30, 2025, with a visitation from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola, located at 305 Calle Salazar, Espanola, NM, 87532. There will be a Celebration of Life on October 11, 2025. Location and time will be announced at the visitation.
As his family reflects on a life well-lived, they take comfort in knowing that "Dad is finally dancing with the Angels."
