Gloria Lopez, a woman of remarkable strength, intelligence, and grace, passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on July 14, 1946, Gloria dedicated her life to the service of others, leaving behind a legacy defined by her resilience, her unwavering character, and the lives she touched as an educator.
Coming from humble beginnings, Gloria was a self-made and fearless woman who navigated her path with grit and common sense. Her professional journey as a school teacher and principal was a testament to her commitment to shaping young minds. She approached her work with the same dedication she applied to all areas of her life, earning the respect of colleagues, students, and her community.
Beyond her professional achievements, Gloria was a woman of many talents. She was a fantastic cook who found joy in nourishing those she loved. She also possessed a true "green thumb," finding peace and beauty in her garden. Gloria’s acumen was not limited to the classroom; she was a savvy investor with a keen eye for real estate, a skill that mirrored the determination she brought to every challenge she faced. She was, above all, a deeply kind person—a strong woman who remained steadfast through the complexities of life.
Gloria is survived by her loving family, including her brothers, Alonzo Lopez, Manuel Lopez, and her sisters, Mela Vigil and Verna Jaramillo. She will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews: Lonnie Lopez, Monica Vigil, Christopher Parchert, Theresa Willis, Javier Lopez, Celina Pofahl, Bernie Vigil, Peter Vigil, Randy Parchert and Jacob Vigil. She is now reunited with her parents, Pete and Beatrice Lopez, her sisters, Lucille Vigil and Annabell Vigil, and her beloved niece, Pilar Vigil, who preceded her in death.
In honor of Gloria's wishes, her Funeral and Celebration of Life will be held privately with close family and friends. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from all whose lives she touched.
