Gilbert L. Ortiz passed away on April 17, 2026. Born on March 23, 1958, he was raised in Santa Fe, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing.
Gilbert worked as a truck driver and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication, providing for his family throughout the years. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. You Would often find a guitar in his hands, filling the room with music and creating memories that will be cherished forever.
He loved cooking and feeding those around him—no one ever left his home hungry. His kindness, laughter, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.
He will be remembered for the love he had for his family.
Gilbert is survived by his siblings: Richard, Margie (Rick), Greg, Jerry, Larry, George, Ralph (Allison), Steve, and Anna (Charlie), along with in-laws Vikki, Ray, Mike, and Greg, and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his children: Beverly Lopez (Andy) and Vanessa Salazar.
He is also survived by Carla Ortiz, the mother of his children, with whom he shared many years and memories.
He leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Ariana, Reyna, Lucas, Estrella, Marcos, and Angelina.
He was preceded in death by Tony and Tessie Ortiz.
A rosary will be held on Friday May 8,2026 at St. Anne's Parish Located at 511 Alicia Santa Fe Nm 87501, starting at 9:30am, with a Mass to follow at 10:30am. Inurnment will be pending at the moment.
Gilbert will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
