Gerald “Jerry” Duck
July 13, 1936 – September 18, 2025
Gerald (Jerry) Duck, a longtime resident of Santa Fe and most recently Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Rio Rancho. Born on July 13, 1936, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Jerry lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to country, and commitment to community.
On April 27, 1957, Jerry married the love of his life, Rosemary Geoffrion of Las Vegas, NM. Together they raised seven children and built a legacy of love and resilience. In 1955, Jerry joined the United States Navy, where he served honorably for 20 years, retiring in 1975 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He continued his dedication to public service working 20 years for the State of New Mexico in Santa Fe until his second retirement in 1996.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary; his brother, Dr. Theodore Duck; and his seven children: Cynthia Lucero (Frank), Michael Duck (Jean), Dennis Duck (Cindy), Julie Brito (Ken), David Duck (Michelle), Kenneth Duck (Debbie), and Teresa Tafoya (Lucas). He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Nadine Duck of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and his sister-in-law, Barry Duck.
A Rosary and Mass to honor Jerry’s life will be held on October 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1301 Osage Avenue, Santa Fe. Burial with full military honors will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe Street.
Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of the legacy Jerry leaves behind—a life well-lived, deeply loved, and honorably served.
