George Vigil

George T. Vigil age 73 of Chupadero, New Mexico passed away March 14, 2016 at home with his family at his side. He was born June 18, 1942 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Margaret and Ernest Vigil. George is preceded in death by his beloved son Anthony Vigil, parents Ernest and Margaret Vigil, father and mother –in-law Manuel and Lucy Romero, sister-in-law Jeannie Romero, brothers John M. Vigil, Anthony Vigil and Alfonso Vigil. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Veronica Vigil, sons Ernie(April) and George, daughters Georgeann Ortiz (Joe)and Teresa Vigil, sisters Cecilia Birkhimer and Christina Mora (Larry), brother Leroy Vigil, 8 loving grandchildren, aunt Connie Sandoval, brother and sister-in-laws Manuel (Terry), Ramon (Antoinette), Ted Romero, Dolores, Florence (Ray), Marcella (David) and Lorraine (Julian), sister-in-laws Corrine and Erlinda Vigil. George was a Vietnam Veteran from 1967-1969 and proudly served his country for nine years. He worked 18 years for the State of New Mexico at the National Guard. George loved spending time with his family and had a passion for doing wood work. Pallbearers are Isiah Vigil, Estrella Ortiz and Aubrie Vigil. Honorary Pallbearers are A’ishah, Amerie, Nevaeh Romero, Leeann Griego and Lukis Trujillo. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. A special thanks to Paul and Andrea from Heritage Hospice for their loving and special care.
