George Louis Jeantete, 56, former Taos, NM resident passed away at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, NM on 11 March 2015. George Jeantete was born in 1958 to Uvaldo Jeantete and Georgia Montoya in Taos, NM. For the past ten years George Jeantete resided in Rio Rancho, NM with his wife Diana and twelve year old son Brendan. On 4 June 1977, George joined the United States Navy as a computer operations technician and was stationed in several places, such as Alaska, Guam, Maine, and Florida. He served in the Navy for 4 years. On 10 December 1984 George entered active duty with the New Mexico Army National Guard. He became a commissioned officer in the New Mexico Army National Guard in the branch of Air Defense. During his career in the New Mexico Army National Guard he served as a platoon leader, executive officer, Commander, operations officer, battalion administrative officer, brigade administrative officer, and Joint Forces Headquarters training officer. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel on 31 March 2001. George Jeantete went on to serve the State of New Mexico for 9 years as the Director of the Department of Military Affairs. George Jeantete had an undying love for his family and he had a passion for taking care of soldiers of the New Mexico Army National Guard, to make sure that their needs were met for State and Federal mission. George Jeantete is survived by his wife, Diana Jeantete and his five children, Bianca Jeantete, Sean Jeantete, Briana Jeantete, Alex Jeantete and Brendan Jeantete. Rosary was recited on March 17, 2015. Funeral mass was held on March 18, 2015. Both were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment following at the Las Cruces Cemetery.
