Listen to Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Roger “Panda” Lopez, who left this world on April 9, 2026, at the age of 47.

Born on September 9, 1978, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Roger later made his home in Santa Fe, where he built a life grounded in love, loyalty, and deep connection to those around him. He was a devoted husband to Elisa Lopez and a proud, loving father to Ares Lopez, Ebony Lopez, and Jade Lopez. He is now reunited with his beloved daughter, Onyx Lopez, who passed in infancy—a reunion that brings a small measure of peace to those who loved him. Roger is survived by his mother, Ida Castillo; his sister, Amanda Lopez; his brother, Gilbert A. Lopez; his sisters-in-law, Nicki and Bobbie; his brother-in-law, Chino; son-in-law John; his mother-in-law, Lydia; his father-in-law, Aaron; his grandmothers-in-law, Marylee and Elisa; and his nieces and nephews, Denicia, Josiah, Awnika, Micah, Madyson, Adrian, and Aidan. He also leaves behind his great-niece and great-nephew, Nikko and Ezlyn, along with many extended family members and close friends who will forever carry his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert George Lopez, and his daughter, Onyx Lopez. Roger was a man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Known for his loyalty, sharp sense of humor, and unmistakable sarcasm, he had a way of making people laugh even on the hardest days. Beneath that humor was a deeply caring and protective heart—especially when it came to his family. He loved fiercely and without hesitation, always putting those he loved before himself. He found joy in life’s simple moments—spending time with his children, sharing laughter with friends, gaming for hours, and making memories filled with love and laughter alongside his wife. He cherished riding his Harley, embracing the sense of freedom that reflected his spirit. His nickname, “Panda,” fit him perfectly—strong yet gentle, playful yet deeply loving. No words can fully capture the impact Roger had on the lives he touched, but those who knew him understood the depth of his kindness, his strength, and his unwavering love. Roger will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his love will continue to guide those he left behind.
