It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Ms. Genevieve Trujillo, age 22. She was a lifelong resident of Northern New Mexico. Born July 8th, 2003, in Las Vegas, NM to mother Valerie Padilla. She’s the granddaughter of Peter Rudy Padilla of Holman, New Mexico, and Ruby Vigil (Padilla) of Espanola, NM.

Ms. Genevieve Trujillo resided with her beloved Pomeranian “Custard” and significant other, Antonio Tristen Martinez, in Espanola, N.M. Prior to her passing she was becoming in love like never before. She thanked Jesus for the date that brought them together. She was boldly and independently entering into adulthood, building their lives together through Jesus Christ.

She attended primary education at Mora Independent Schools. Later transferring to Robertson High School, East Las Vegas, New Mexico. She had attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM to pursue a business degree. She consistently earned high grades and was known as a shining star on the varsity basketball team, making state Jr. and Sr. year in Track and Field. She represented Las Vegas as pageant winner and Title Holder as little Miss Pre-Teen Las Vegas. A passionate guitarist, Genevieve had a natural talent for Mariachi.

Genevieve was baptized, made her First Holy Communion with her Grandmother Christine Martinez at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church in Mora, New Mexico.

She was also known as Gena. Gena left this world far too soon. She had a passion for independence. She worked in Los Alamos and had a private studio where she applied eyelashes part-time.

Her passion, talent and determination made her a source of pride to all who knew her. Genevieve lived her life with a radiant smile and a heart of gold, always trusting Jesus Christ to Bless her day by day.

Her memory will continue to inspire love, laughter and perseverance. She is survived by her biological sibling Emilie Trujillo, Mireya Quinonez, Samantha Quinonez, and nephew Santos Quinonez, great grandmother Eva Martinez from Holmon, New Mexico.
