Gayla Brunner, 72, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away on January 9, 2026.
Gayla was born on January 25, 1953, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Gerald and Betty Washburn. She was a spirited and loving woman, deeply devoted to her family and to those she cared for throughout her life.
Gayla worked for 40 years at Saint Vincent Hospital, where her dedication, compassion, and strength touched countless lives. Outside of her work, she found great joy in horses and cherished the peace they brought her. Her Christian faith was a guiding force in her life and a source of strength through all seasons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Brunner; her parents, Gerald and Betty Washburn; and her sister, Starlyn Dupree.
Gayla is survived by her daughter, Holly Brunner; her son, James Brunner; her sister, Karen Fehlman; her grandson, Leroy Cooley; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Services will be held on January 26, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Saint John’s United Methodist Church, located at 1200 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Gayla will be remembered for her loving heart, her strength, and her unwavering devotion to family and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
