Frutoso Lawrence Martinez Sr., a cherished member of the Ranchitos community, peacefully passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on November 5, 1949, in Ranchitos, NM, Frutoso was the son of the late Leopoldo and Trinidad Martinez. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and vibrant spirit that touched the lives of many.
Frutoso's professional journey included a commendable 25 years with Johnson Control, where he was a proud and active member of the Local 16 Union. His work ethic and commitment extended beyond his trade; he endeared himself to friends and neighbors alike, often walking the streets to engage in conversation and foster community spirit while maintaining a clean environment.
An exemplary individual devoted to his faith and family, Frutoso was known for his outgoing personality and sense of humor. He could always be found with his small prayer book, reading quietly on his porch or in his chair, a testament to his strong Catholic faith. He never ever left home without his prayer book and his trusty Hat. His dedication to prayer was matched only by his love for his family. He cherished moments spent with them, particularly during outdoor activities like pinon picking, where he created unforgettable memories, especially loving and humorously making fun of his granddaughter Marleina because of her colorful hair.
Frutoso’s proudest accomplishments were not only found in his professional life but also in his community involvement. He took pride in being a Hermano with Trinidad in Santa Cruz and was an active member of the Holy Family in San Juan, attending church every Friday without fail. Married to Bernice I. Martinez on June 12, 1971, at St. Anthony's Church in Penasco, they shared 54 years of partnership filled with love and mutual respect.
Frutoso is survived by his beloved wife, Bernice I. Martinez, his brother Nino Martinez, his son Lawrence Martinez Jr., daughter Dorain Martinez and son-in-law Mario Pacheco whom Frutoso also thought of as a son, and son Andrew Martinez. He was a proud grandfather to Marleina Martinez, Kiana Pacheco, and grandsons Arriano and Elias Sanchez. Frutoso is predeceased by his parents and siblings Tony, Paul, Eliseo, and Joe Martinez, and sister Josephine Martinez.
