Freddy “Uncle Fred” Lujan

Freddy passed away October 31, 2023. He was born on October 7, 1958 and a resident of Pecos, NM.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother Antonio & Eluteria Lujan, brothers Tony and Jimmy Lujan, brother-in-law Orlando Sandoval, nephews Aaron Perez, Franklin and Rudy Sena, nieces Deanna Lujan and Dez Sena. Special Primo Mark Vigil and several cousins, uncles and aunts.

He is survived by his daughters Roberta (Phillip) Paz and Desiree (Cuauhtemoc) Lujan, step-son Jeff Pacheco, girlfriend Patricia Garduño, ex-wife Delia Lujan, grandchildren Draven, Lexy, and Destiny Pacheco, Michael and baby girl Paz, and Layla Vigil. Sisters Mary Ann (Horrocio) Sena, Jane (Tony) Roybal, Mildred Sandoval, Josephine Perez, brothers Florentino (Corrine) Lujan, Michael (Erlinda) Lujan, Melvin (Judith) Lujan. God children Stephen Lujan, Lauren Sandoval, and Emma Montoya. 

Freddy loved his community and was well known throughout northern New Mexico. For several years he was the commander for the San Miguel County Sheriff Posse - Pecos Division and an active member of the American Legion Post 70. He served over 29 years in the New Mexico National Guard. He received numerous military decorations and awards throughout his military career and in  2007 retired as a Master Sergeant. 

He loved his family and spending time with his grand babies, fishing, hauling wood, hunting, traveling to CO, drinking coffee with his buddies, and watching Pecos High School basketball. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend, and “uncle” to many throughout the community. 

A rosary will be recited Tuesday, November 7th, at 7pm and the funeral mass, Wednesday, November 8th at 11am. All services will be at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pecos, NM with internment at St. Anthony’s cemetery.

Pallbearers: Florentino, Michael, Melvin and Albert Lujan, Marcelino Ortiz, and Francisco (Pancho) Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers: Charlie Varela, Gene Garcia, Jeff Handford, Jay Valencia, Jeff and Draven Pacheco.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting mass intentions to be scheduled with St. Anthony’s church for Freddy.
