Frank (Pancho) Vigil Sr., a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and a proud veteran, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born to Alfonso and Gertruditas on March 5, 1947, in Cerro, New Mexico, Frank’s life was marked by service, dedication, and deep family ties that spanned generations.

Frank’s early years in Cerro were shaped by his close-knit family and his strong commitment to education, culminating in his graduation from high school in 1966. Immediately after completing his education, he demonstrated his unwavering patriotism by volunteering for the United States Marines. Frank honorably served two tours in Vietnam, an experience that defined much of his later life and deepened his sense of duty and resilience.

His military service was just one chapter of a life lived with purpose and honor. Frank is remembered by all who knew him for his steadfast character and the love he bore for his family and community.

Frank is survived by his his beloved son, Frank Vigil, and his grandson, Frank Vigil III, who carry forward his legacy. He also leaves behind cherished siblings: Jose Medardo Vigil, Elfido Vigil, Ercilia Vigil Aken, Barbara Vigil Olivarez, and Gerti Vigil Castaneda.The Vigil family mourns alongside those who loved him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Alfonso and Gertruditas, brothers and sisters: Ben Vigil, Jesus Vigil, Delfido Vigil, Alfonso Vigil Jr., and Gloria Vigil, whose memories he honored throughout his life.

The family will gather to remember and celebrate Frank's life at Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations of Taos. A viewing will be held on March 27, 2026, beginning at 6:00 PM. The following day, the memorial service will take place at Living Word Ministries in Questa, NM on March 28, 2026, starting at 10:30 AM.

Frank (Pancho) Vigil Sr.’s life was emblematic of dedication—to country, to family, and to community. He will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the honor to know him. His legacy endures in the hearts of his loved ones and the community he served so faithfully.
