Frances L Maes, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2025, in Los Alamos, New Mexico, after bravely battling a long illness. Born on November 18, 1947, in Upland, California, Frances lived a life rich with memories, joy, and connection.
Frances was a dedicated manager at Furr's Cafeteria for many years, where she crafted a welcoming atmosphere for all who entered. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her zest for life outside of her career. A graduate of Santa Fe High School, she carried the values of hard work and camaraderie throughout her life.
Frances found joy in various pursuits; she had a passion for bowling, played softball, and delighted in watching golf. Perhaps her greatest joy came from supporting her nieces and nephews as they played sports, honoring them with encouragement and love. Frances also enjoyed the thrill of visiting casinos, where she created many fond memories that will be cherished by those who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Roberts; her sister, Jessie Martinez (Chris); and her brother, Robert Tapia. Frances also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews who will carry her spirit with them.
Frances was predeceased by her mother and father, Carmen and Isabel Delgado; her son, Paul Frank Maes; and her sister, Marylou Tapia. Their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved her.
As we remember Frances L Maes, we celebrate her life—a life full of warmth, laughter, and a love that will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched.
