Frances Mary Arellano

Frances M. Arellano, age 71, of Tesuque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Tesuque, New Mexico, Frances remained a lifelong resident of the community she cherished. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Zebedeo “Beyo” Arellano, who passed away just four months before her. The loss of her husband weighed heavily on Frances, and those who knew her witnessed the deep love and devotion she held for him throughout their lives together. Today, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is reunited with the love of her life, as well as with her parents, Erminia and Pedro Montoya, and numerous brothers, sisters, relatives, and dear friends who preceded her in death.

Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her four children: Danny Montoya and wife Tommie, Irene Baca and husband Benny, Lorraine Montoya and husband Leo, and her youngest son, Gerald Montoya, whom she adored and spent much of her time with.

She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Her granddaughter, Miranda Montoya, held a particularly special place in her heart. Frances helped raise Miranda for much of her life and loved her as one of her own daughters. She also played an important role in helping Miranda raise her daughter, Janayah Montoya, who brought immense joy, happiness, and love into Frances’s life.

Family was the center of Frances’s world. She shared a remarkable bond with her brother, Eddie Montoya. Their relationship was built on love, loyalty, and constant companionship, and rarely a day passed without them visiting one another. Frances deeply loved and appreciated her brother, knowing there was nothing he would not do for her.

She was also blessed with the love and support of her sisters, Geraldine and Charlene Montoya. Geraldine was often described as Frances’s sidekick, standing faithfully by her side through life’s joys and challenges, including countless doctor’s appointments, hospital visits, and difficult days. Frances often said she was one of the luckiest people alive to have such a caring and devoted family.

Frances was known for her warm personality, outgoing nature, and generous heart. She loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, camping, and gardening. Every summer, she carefully tended to her vegetable garden, fruit trees, and rose bushes. Working in her garden brought her a sense of peace and fulfillment, and it was one of her greatest joys.

Those who knew Frances will remember her beautiful spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and her ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed and cared for. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, strength, and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
