Florence Delaluz-Castro

d. April 20, 2016

Born February 19th, a birthdate she shared with her beloved father Ilario “Lalo” DeLaLuz was called home by our Lord on Wednesday April 20th, 2016. 'Mima', as she was affectionately called by her family and close friends, was born in Santa Fe in 1942, raised in Los Angeles and returned to Santa Fe in 1987. A devote Catholic, Florence went to parochial school all her life and graduated from Our Lady Queen of Angels High School in 1960. She was always a very hard worker who gave 100% of herself whether she was answering telephones at Metromedia Television (later Fox Television) designing floral arrangements for your wedding or making the BEST BISCUITS ever to hit Santa Fe at Hardee’s (now Carl’s Jr.). Mima LOVED her music almost as much as she loved to dance! Never one to turn a deaf ear to any genre of music, you would hear her jamming to Vicentico Valdez, The Gap Band, Rolling Stones or personal family favorite Los Lobos, all in the same sitting. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Ilario & Lucille DeLaLuz sisters Connie DeLaLuz and Dorothy Medina brother Danny DeLaLuz and husband Jose Antonio Castro and too many other family members and close friends. She is survived by her daughter Sonya Hastings and husband Robert, brother John DeLaLuz and wife Francine, nephews JC, Peter and Nicholas, nieces Angela and Lisa. She is survived by her greatest joys in her life, her Grandblessings Christopher Hastings, Alexandra Sanchez and husband Joseph, Anjelica Varela and husband Ruben and her Great Grandblessings Lucas, Mateo, Amaya, Olivia, Angelo and Tonantzín. Florence loved many and was loved by many, particularly good friend Monica Vasquez. Memorial services for Florence will be held Tuesday May 3rd at St. Anthony’s Church in Pecos. Prayer of Holy Rosary at 9:00 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.
