Listen to Obituary

Flavio Martinez, born on October 5, 1994, left us far too soon on March 31, 2026, passing away unexpectedly at home. In his 31 years, Flavio crafted a life marked by dedication, laughter, and love—a legacy built with a skilled hammer and a warm heart.

Flavio was a master craftsman who helped build and remodel homes in Espanola and the surrounding areas. His hands, steady and sure with hammer and drill, shaped spaces where memories were made, a testament to his fine craftsmanship and tireless work ethic through the seasons. Yet, there was so much more to this remarkable man than his trade. He held a deep passion for horses, spending cherished hours alongside his beloved brother, Tino Martinez, training and caring for the race horses that captured their spirits. Whether riding, grooming, or simply being near the horses, Flavio found a profound joy that echoed in his every move.

At the heart of Flavio's world was his family. His beautiful marriage to Danitza was a radiant bond, the foundation of a joyful home filled with the laughter of their children—Anahi, Guilia, and Gael. They were his light, the center of his universe. His love for them was evident in every smile, every tender gesture. Flavio's personality was as vibrant as the tunes he loved to play and dance to; he had a contagious smile that brightened any room and a sharp wit that loved to tease lovingly. "If he didn’t pick on you, he didn’t like you," those close to him would say, a playful testament to the affectionate spirit that endeared him to family and friends alike.

Flavio’s devotion extended beyond his immediate family to a close circle of loved ones: his mother-in-law Faviola, sisters-in-law Nicole and Luana, brother-in-law Daniel, and his niece and nephew, Mayrin and Iker, who all felt the warmth of his laughter and the strength of his care. Numerous relatives and friends will carry his memory in their hearts, touched by the kindness and humor he freely gave.

The community is invited to honor Flavio at the Rivera Family Kiva Chapel of Light, 417 Rodeo Rd., Santa Fe, NM 87505, with a viewing on April 16, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., accompanied by a Rosary starting at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held the following day, April 17, at 11:00 a.m., concluding with a burial at Santa Fe Memorial Gardens at 12:30 p.m.

Flavio Martinez’s life was a mosaic of skill, love, and laughter—an evocative portrait of a man who loved deeply and lived fully. Though he is gone, the rhythm of his footsteps, the echo of his laughter, and the imprint of his craftsmanship endure, reminding all who knew him of a bright spirit who danced through life with joy and heart. His presence will be profoundly missed, but forever treasured.
