It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fidel Armijo, known affectionately as "The Rooster," who departed this world peacefully and painlessly on August 26, 2025, in Santa Fe. Born on July 23, 1937, in Glorieta, Fidel lived a life rich in love and humanity, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of warmth that touched all who knew him.
Fidel was a skilled Truck Driver for many years, moving furniture and embracing the open road before transitioning to painting houses. His work, whether moving furniture or painting homes, reflected his dedication and passion. Known for his vibrant and energetic personality, he earned his nickname "The Rooster" because he was always up and moving at the crack of dawn.
Family meant the world to Fidel, and his proudest accomplishment was his marriage to his beloved wife, Marcella Armijo, whom he was married to for an admirable 54 years. Together, they shared countless adventures, including cruising and exploring little shops, as well as traveling to Texas to visit with their niece Esther. Fidel adored spending time with his family, especially during gatherings where he would indulge his passion for cooking, ensuring that no one ever left his house without a meal. He had a remarkable talent for hospitality and a great sense of humor, bringing laughter and joy to all who gathered with him.
Fidel enjoyed a wide variety of television shows, and his love for Hispanic music filled his home with lively tunes. He shared many memorable evenings with his brother-in-law James (Freddy), strumming the guitar and singing under the stars.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marcella; his brother, Filimon Armijo; his goddaughter, Lori Roybal and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and close friends who love him dearly. Fidel was predeceased by his parents, Luciano and Bonificia Armijo, brothers Ernest, Pedro, Isidro, his sister Mary Profilia and stepdaughters, and his stepson Eddie Ray Martinez.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation Service scheduled for August 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations of Espanola in our Large Chapel, located at 305 Calle Salazar, Espanola, NM.
