Ferminia Martinez

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Ferminia Martinez on March 30, 2026. She peacefully left this world at home, surrounded by the love of her family. Ferminia was born on September 18, 1937, in Canjilón, New Mexico, to Guadalupe Leyba and Nicholas Gonzales, and was later raised by her stepfather, Rubel Leyba. She was a strong, determined, and hardworking woman who dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she gave her love freely and unconditionally. She was preceded in death by her husband, Filimon Martinez; her sons, Lawrence and Ivan; her sisters, Presciliana and Perfilia; and her beloved grandchildren, Louie and Mando. Ferminia leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters, Janette (George), Priscilla (Alonso), and Marie (Rafael), as well as Arthur, whom she loved and raised as her own son. She also lovingly raised her grandchildren, Theodore (Roberta) and Deseray (Leroy). She is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched deeply. Ferminia will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A funeral mass will take place Monday, April 13, 2026 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
