Our beautiful mother, Evelyn Pacheco, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 30, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born on August 18, 1928, to Jennie Ortiz Martinez and Ignacio Martinez. A devout Catholic, she felt blessed to live her entire 98 years in beautiful Santa Fe. She retired from Santa Fe Public Schools after 23 years of service and shifted her talents to the New Mexico State Legislature, concluding her career as Director of House Pages after 24 years of service. Mom lived her life fully. She was an incredibly gifted artist, a world traveler, and, above all else, a kind and generous friend to all who knew her. She shared her love of life with her family and friends, ensuring that we saw the beauty in our surroundings, enjoyed adventure, and relished our time together.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Pacheco; her mother, Jennie; cousin, Al Ortiz; dear friends, Jake Bath and Ben Maestas; and many treasured family members and friends.

She is survived by her son Patrick Pacheco and wife, Joan; her daughter Karmella Miera and husband, Mike; and her son Anthony Pacheco and wife, Elaine. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Chittum (Chad), Sean Pacheco (Grace), Aaron Miera (Shannon), Kimberly Nicley (Clinton), Keith Pacheco (Amanda), and Troy Pacheco (Jade); and her great-grandchildren: Elliot and Lucy Mae Pacheco; Elias, Reis, and Sofia Miera; and Olivia and Harvey Nicley.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Morningstar Santa Fe for the exceptional kindness and care given during her time there, and to the ER, ICU, and Hospice staff at Christus St. Vincent for their kind and competent care.

Services will be held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, 131 Cathedral Place, Santa Fe, New Mexico on Thursday, November 19, 2026. The rosary begins at 10:30 am, Mass at 11:00 am, and interment at the National Cemetery at 12:30 pm. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and honorary pallbearers, her great-grandchildren.
