Eufracia Montoya passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025. She was a person led by her faith. She touched many lives through her grace, kindness and generosity. She is preceded in death by her parents JD & Canuta Montoya, son Dennis Montoya, infant daughter Loraine, and siblings Crucita Vigil (Ruben), Eloy Montoya (Margie), Ray Montoya (Donna), Ellia LeDoux (Paul), Joe Montoya (Dorthy), Fabiola Cota, Cora Bennett (Ron) & Ignacio Montoya (Ernestine).
Eufracia will be lovingly remembered by her husband Arturo, daughter Michelle, son-in-law Kevin, grandson Nicholas, brother Abe (Theresa), the many extended family members, as well as all her friends who shared her loving spirit.
She was born in Valdez, NM, November 1933, and is a graduate of Taos High School. Following high school, she attended nursing school in Chicago and finished in Albuquerque. She worked as a nurse in Albuquerque and Taos, where she met Arturo Montoya. They celebrated 69 years of marriage and adventure together, and raised two children. Eufracia lived her life to the fullest and was never afraid to explore new challenges. She enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with friends, camping, fishing, hunting and picking piñon. Eufracia loved to cook, sew, knit, and crochet. Family and friends especially enjoyed her cooking and baking. Her favorite times were spent with her grandson. She never missed his celebrations. Many will remember her favorite saying “It’s not age that matters; it’s how you feel inside.”
Rosary will be recited Sunday, March 16, at 6:00 pm, at Holy Trinity Parish in Arroyo Seco.
Funeral mass will be held Monday, March 17, at 10:00 am, at Holy Trinity Parish in Arroyo Seco, followed by internment at San Antonio Cemetery in Valdez.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rivera Family Funeral Home.
