With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Erik Lonnie Gallegos, who left this world on July 16, 2026, after a life that touched many and left an indelible mark on every heart he encountered. Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on February 1, 1978, Erik’s journey was defined by his unwavering love, steadfast loyalty, and his deep affection for family, nature, and simple joys.

Erik was known to all as a loving, humble man with a big heart—a cornerstone for his family and a steady presence for friends. His wisdom came in many forms, often dispensed with warmth and humor, and, true to his nature, sometimes with an air of playful mystery, as his advice to those he loved could always be counted on to reflect his mood at that very moment. This unique quality drew people to him, looking for a word of comfort or a spark of laughter.

The outdoors called to Erik like a second home. Whether passionately cheering on his beloved 49ers, casting a fishing line into tranquil waters, seeking adventure while hunting or camping, or simply basking in the beauty of “God’s country,” Erik found true peace in nature. These moments offered him solace and reflection, bringing calm to his soul and joy to those lucky enough to join him.

Time with his family was Erik’s truest treasure. The memories held closest by those he leaves behind speak to these bonds. Sundays spent with his mother, Lillian, attending church and going to fiestas were sacred rituals. His daughter, Serenity, will forever cherish their phone calls, the warmth of his bear hugs, and his unwavering support that carried her through life’s trials and triumphs. These are the irreplaceable gifts that Erik so freely gave.

Erik was, simply put, the best he could be—a remarkable father, a devoted son, a cherished brother, and a steadfast friend. His absence is keenly felt by those who survive him: his beloved daughter, Serenity Gallegos; his caring mother, Lillian Gallegos; April Gallegos mother of his children; step-sons Darren Vigil and Jacob Vigil; grandson Ezariah Vigil; and brothers Kevin Gallegos and Gino Gallegos(Belina). Their loss is shared by all who knew Erik’s big heart and quiet strength.

He is reunited in rest with those who preceded him in death: his father, Eugene Gallegos; his sisters-in-law, June Elsa Gallegos and Sara Gallegos; and his aunt, Louanna Gallegos. Their spirits are joined now, never forgotten by those who remain.

Erik’s legacy lives on in his family, in every story shared, every lesson held close, and in the beauty he saw each day in nature and in those he loved. The memory of Erik Lonnie Gallegos will be cherished forever, and his love will continue to guide the hearts of all who knew him, like sunlight gently resting on an open field—always present, always remembered.
