Enrique Anchondo “Henry” July 15, 1941-May 27, 2026
Enrique passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family after a brief illness at the age of 84. Enrique was born July 15, 1941, to Francisco C. Anchondo and Susana (Molinar) Anchondo. He was the second youngest of ten siblings and raised to value family traditions and his Catholic faith. He spent most of his life in Santa Fe where he met his beloved wife, Tessie Rodriguez, before living his final 25 years in Albuquerque.
Enrique was fiercely independent and deeply devoted to his family, faith, friends, football, golf, reading, dancing, and travel. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren, Lucia, Carena, and Adrian. He loved supporting them in all their extracurricular activities and was always available to help as needed. Grandpa’s taxi was always in service. He was generous with his time and always willing to help his family and loved ones.
Enrique attended St Francis Catholic School, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School and St. Michael’s High School. He served six years in the U.S. Army where he travelled the world. He attended the College of Santa Fe, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He later spent 23 years working for the Department of Corrections. In his retirement, Enrique spent time improving his golf game, going to the spa and heading to “The Club” to perfect his dance moves.
Enrique was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Susana; his siblings, Juan Anchondo, Socorro Anchondo, Carmen Petrikat, Ramon Anchondo, Francisco Anchondo, Jose Anchondo and Miguel Anchondo. Also, by his beloved son, Vince Anchondo. He is survived by his wife, Tessie R. Anchondo; his daughter, Lisa A. Harrison (Ernie); his grandchildren Lucia Harrison, Carena Harrison and Adrian Harrison; his sister Susana Montoya; his godson Ray Anchondo; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Heartfelt thanks to the health care professionals at Rust Presbyterian for their honest assessment and compassionate care. Thank you to Morgan at Rivera Funeral Services for your tireless efforts to ensure the best possible services for Enrique and our family. We would also like to thank the church of Our Lady of Guadalupe for celebrating Enrique’s Mass, where his journey in the Catholic faith began so many years ago. Finally, thank you to our family and friends who were always nearby to offer their support.
