Emily Denise Marquez, a cherished soul who graced the world with her vibrant spirit, was born on January 4, 1966, in the enchanting city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Emily's journey through life came to an untimely close on September 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a tapestry of memories that will be forever woven into the hearts of those who knew her.
From an early age, Emily radiated joy, her presence a warm embrace infused with laughter and love. She was a happy-go-lucky individual, forever armed with the greatest jokes and a penchant for playfully picking on everyone around her. Emily's infectious smile was as constant as her adventures into creativity, evidenced by her beautiful crafts bearing testament to her personality. Whether it was making jewelry or crocheting anything under the sun, her artistry was an extension of the joy within her, a reflection of her vibrant essence.
A proud and avid participant in the Special Olympics, Emily brought home numerous gold medals and ribbons, achievements she wore not just as accolades but as symbols of her unyielding spirit and determination. Her heart was equally dedicated to serving her community, dedicating her time to volunteering for Food for Santa Fe, and sharing her boundless love by babysitting for her many nieces and nephews, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Emily's home was a realm of purple—her favorite color—symbolizing her delight in life and all things beautiful. She had an unparalleled love for country music, often playing her favorite tunes while crafting or creating, allowing the melodies to accompany her every imaginative endeavor.
Emily is survived by her devoted brothers and sisters: Henry (Gloria), Christina (Ed), Julio, John (Maggie), Bernie (Maryanne), Margaret (Ray), Esequiel, Ernest (Michelle), Marcos, alongside many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish her memory. They will forever reminisce about the times they shared, especially the fond recollections of her gently teasing them with the loving reminder, "You are doing it backwards!"
Emily joins her beloved parents, Juan C and Carmen, in eternal rest, as well as her siblings Rudy, Dora, Paul, and Beth, who await her reunion beyond this life.
As we celebrate Emily’s radiant spirit and the legacy she leaves behind, we invite all whose lives were touched by her warmth to join in a memorial service in her honor. This gathering will take place on October 3, 2025, at the Rivera Family Funeral & Cremations of Santa Fe, beginning at 10:00 AM. Let us come together to remember her not with tears, but with the joy she brought to our lives, embracing the memories we hold dear.
