In Loving Memory of Elva Erlinda Rivali Tafoya

Elva Erlinda Rivali Tafoya, age 81, a cherished resident of Rio Rancho and formerly of Ranchos de Taos, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of her family.

Elva leaves this world to be reunited with her beloved husband, Leo F. Tafoya; her parents, Albessa and Luis Rivali; her in-laws, Felicitas and Alberto Tafoya; and many more treasured family members who went before her. Her passing brings bittersweet comfort, knowing she is once again embraced by those she held so dear.

She was a devoted mother to Cleo (Enrique "Ricky") Rodriguez, Erlinda (Anthony) Romero, Peggy, and Patrick (Sou) Tafoya. Her heart expanded across generations as a loving grandmother to Enrique (Ashley) Rodriguez, Arturo (Katy) Rodriguez, Brian, Kevin, Emily, Matthew Romero, Mateo, Crowin Vigil, Zy, Shalynn, Leo, and Mateo Tafoya. She found immense joy and pride in being a great-grandmother to Breanna (Hagen) Harper, Tallen, Lucas, and Gracelyn Rodriguez.

Elva’s nurturing spirit reached far beyond her own family. She was a Godmother and mother figure to Leslie and Andres Trujillo. A loving and devoted sister to Flora (Ernest), Ginger, and Mary Jane Trujillo. A dotting Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. An always present friend to many. A foster mother to numerous children, a gentle caregiver to her daycare children, and a devoted healthcare provider to her patients. In every role she held, she gave selflessly, touching lives with tenderness, patience, and quiet strength.

A Rosary will be recited at Rivera Family Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with reception to follow. Private interment will take place at a later time.
