Eliazar Arreola, a cherished member of the Taos community and a loving husband, brother, and friend, passed away on March 18, 2026. Born in 1957, in Chihuahua, Mexico, Eliazar made Taos his home for over 40 years after moving there in 1980. His life was a vivid testament to generosity, kindness, and a genuine love for those around him.
Eliazar was known far and wide as a jack of all trades, skillfully working in construction, landscaping, and maintenance. His hands created and repaired, leaving a lasting impact on places like Blackstone Ranch, First NM Title, Centinel Bank, and most recently, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, where he dedicated his talents and time. Beyond his professional endeavors, Eliazar was a man of warmth and approachability—friendly to all and always ready with a helping hand or a smile.
He was a gentle soul with a green thumb, nurturing plants with care and compassion. His love for animals, especially stray dogs and cats, reflected the deep empathy that defined his character. Eliazar found joy in simpler pleasures—fishing, visits to the casino, savoring good food, and cheering on his favorite football team as a proud Branco fan.
Above all, Eliazar’s heart belonged to his beloved wife Melissa, to whom he was married for 25 years. Their relationship was marked by tenderness and respect; he was the perfect gentleman, never failing to open doors or offer thoughtful gestures that spoke volumes about his love. Their daily meals together were treasured moments, emblematic of the deep companionship they shared.
Eliazar was also deeply respectful toward his in-laws, Toby and Gloria, embodying the values of family and loyalty. He cherished connections with his siblings—his brother Hernando and sisters Elizabeth, Esther, and Emma—which endured alongside the loving memories of his late parents Donaciano Arreola and Maria De Jesus Ramirez, his late brother Efren, and sister Edelmira. His special nephew Tony Aguilar and niece Mirea Castillo hold a place in his legacy of warmth and family bonds.
A viewing will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos on April 8, 2026, from 5PM followed immediately by a rosary at 6PM. The community will come together to celebrate his life and memory with a Mass on April 9, 2026, at 10AM, also at Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Eliazar Arreola’s life was a beautiful mosaic of generosity, love, and dedication. His easy-going nature and countless friendships enriched the lives of those who knew him. Though he has left this world, the spirit of his kindness, the strength of his character, and the love he freely gave will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends in Taos and beyond. He will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will endure, a gentle reminder of a life well-lived.
