Eleazar “Jr” Flores
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleazar “Jr” Flores on May 16, 2025, due to complications from his autoimmune disease, systemic scleroderma.
Jr is survived by his mother, Norma Romo Alfaro; his father, Eleazar Flores Torres; his two younger sisters, Norma Yukaren Flores Romo and Yokheved Flores; and his two older brothers, Oscar Ivan Flores Romo and Irwin Flores Romo. He is also survived by many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Jr took great pride in being a community leader and an advocate for immigrant rights through his work with Somos un Pueblo Unido.
Jr lived for his friends, family, and community. In his earlier years, he loved skateboarding, boxing and wrestling, and spending time with his loved ones. As he grew older, his interests evolved, and he began focusing more on his studies and community involvement. He graduated from New Mexico Highlands University in May 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in social work.
Jr dedicated his life to serving his community. He was an irreplaceable part of Somos, the organization to which he dedicated the last three years of his life. He was passionate about his work and wore his yellow shirt with pride. Jr was tireless in his efforts—often the last one out of the office, the first to arrive at weekend events, and always persistent in sharing important information. His coworkers relied on his helping hand—he was always there. Members looked forward to seeing him: waiting, smiling, eager to catch up.
Jr also took pride in his sense of style, his cars, his loved ones, and most importantly, his dog Osito. He radiated kindness, and people naturally gravitated toward him. He always had a joke ready, and laughter followed him wherever he went. Jr had a special way of making everyone feel cared for. His beautiful, contagious smile could light up any room. He showed up in many ways. Jr was always there.
His passing has left an enormous void in the lives of those who loved him. May we carry forward the kindness and peace he brought into the world. We celebrate the deep love and dedication he had for his family, friends, and community.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jr’s life at Rivera Funeral Home. A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
