Edward J. Gonzales

July 12, 1948 — July 6, 2025

It is with aching hearts and deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved brother Edward endearingly known as our "BUDDY." Our cherished brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend to a great many. Buddy was the first-born son of Jose Amador II, and Maria de Jesus. His legacy is one of unshakeable faith, enduring love, and a strength that inspired all who knew him. He dedicated his life to caring for our mother and our sister, ClaraBelle. Buddy's talents were too many to count, and he mastered anything to which he set his hands and mind. He attended St. Michael's High School and Highlands University, was an accomplished electronics technician in the U.S. Army, and served six years in the military - Fort Polk, LA and White Sands Missile Range, NM. He worked as an expert draftsman for Sullivan Design Group for many years, later joining our brother in landscaping work where his knowledge of horticulture and his visions of garden design truly blossomed. Buddy was preceded in death by our parents, brother Jose Amador Ill, brothers-in-law Frank T Gurule Sr. and Christopher G Rodriguez, nephew, Frank T Gurule Jr. He is survived by siblings ClaraBelle Gonzales, Rose Mary Gurule, Gerard Gonzales & wife Roseanna, Carol Anne Rodriguez, George Gonzales & wife Cecilia, Carmela Winneberger & husband George, fifteen nieces and nephews, seventeen grand nieces and nephews, and multiple uncles, aunts, and cousins. Also, special buddies, Silviano Talamante and cousin David Gonzales whom he loved dearly. The family extends its gratitude to Buddy's doctors: Mario Pacheco, MD, Sue Katz, MD, Camila Maestas, MD, and Frances Alba, MD for their compassionate care and the support given to Buddy. Buddy's abiding faith in God never wavered. Beyond being a constant presence in our lives, he touched so very many other lives and was unfailingly generous with his time, talent, and treasure. Buddy truly lived his belief that there is great good in our world. His charity to anyone in need was boundless. Services are pending.
