Edward “Tad” Fettig passed away in his sleep on July 24, 2026, surrounded by love. Tad is survived by his sister, Ros, and brother-in-law, Bill, and a worldwide network of the best friends, advisors and guides a man could have.Tad grew up surfing and sailing in Hawaii before attending college in Utah, where he began his film/documentary career as a ski-access only location scout. After working in film in Los Angeles, he moved to San Francisco to start his own film company, alongside other talented creatives. This love of sharing his “vision” found him next in New York City, developing and filming e2 design, a critically-acclaimed documentary series for PBS, focusing on sustainable design and energy innovation. Tad traveled worldwide, spent time in Spain and preferred off-the-beaten path and spiritual destinations. His love for the magic and mountains brought him to Taos. His many film projects include Dopamine, Sky Burial, Ausangate, Bon: Mustang to Menri, Bon in Dolpo, and Bon and the West. He also collaborated/supplied photography for the Into Wild Places (2025) publication. In accordance with Tad’s wishes, no public memorial service will be held. Those who knew and loved him are invited to honor his memory in their own way, perhaps by spending time in nature, offering an act of kindness, or supporting a meaningful cause.
